Babies are welcome to join from aged 3 months old onwards. There is no upper age limit.
All swimmers entering the pool will need to arrive 'beach ready' with their kits on underneath their clothes. Babies can be changed at our changing stations by the poolside just before their lessons though. (We wouldn't advise travelling in swimming nappies.) All equipment, floats and toys will be provided, so there is no need to bring any of these. Children and adults are advised to bring goggles too.
Yes, you can start at any point in the year, subject to availability.
Our normal weekly swimming lessons only run during term time; we are closed during the school holidays. We run crash courses instead during most of our school holidays.
See our Term Dates section for more information on this.
Yes, you will need to pay for and commit to a block of lessons when you join our swim school. The payment made will reserve your place for a set number of lessons; no one else will be able to take your place if you are unable to make your lesson. We will only credit you for missed lesson/s if we have had to cancel your lesson for any reason. The management team reserve the right to give discounts or credit lessons for extenuating circumstances though.
All our classes are 30 minutes long, apart from our Aquacise classes, which are 45 minutes long.
All our payments are made through our online booking system - Thrive4. Customers are asked to set up a direct debit through Thrive4 with the payment provider London & Zurich. Payments are taken at the start of the month for all upcoming lessons in that month. For example, if there are 3 lessons in a month, you will be charged for 3. If there are 4 in the next month, you will be charged for 4, and so on. You will receive an invoice on the 1st of each month so you know what payment is going to be taken shortly after.
In the unfortunate event of you wanting to stop your lessons with, please give our office team one month's notice so that we can make the necessarily changes accordingly. Notice can be given in person on site (Quarterway House, Ely Road, CB6 3HP), via email (ely@cgswimschool.com / newmarket@cgswimschool.com) or on the phone (07907 588 647).
Yes, absolutely! We think it's never too late to start. Whether you've had a bad experience that's put you off, never had the chance to learn, or just want to improve your technique, we are bound to have a lesson that's right for you. Get in touch to see how we can help and what we have on offer.
Yes, we do! We know that sometimes it's hard to know the right thing to buy for someone, so why not get them a gift that keeps on giving? They are available digitally or as a hard copy and can be any amount you wish, from £10 to £100. Order yours here.
We regularly assess our swimmers to make sure we are meeting their needs and helping them progress as best as we can. You can view our teacher assessments on your Thrive4 MemberHub app or by logging into your account online here. You will see a tab that says, 'Learning', where you can view their most recent assessments. These are updated at least every half term, so you can see how your child is getting on and what they need to work on next.
Yes of course. We have seating available poolside for parents/carers, as we know how important it is to be part of your child's learning journey and be celebrate their progress with them. We do ask that poolside conversations are kept to a minimum though, to maintain safety and not distract from learning.
